Volumizing Facelift The Woodlands
A Facelift Combined with Fat Grafting
As you age, your skin loses volume as well as elasticity. A traditional facelift works well to correct sagging, but does not address volume loss. That’s why Dr. Gill combines facelift surgery with autologous fat grafting.
By addressing volume loss, fat grafting has immensely improved our facelift results. In addition, recent studies show that stem cells from grafted fat cells can significantly improve skin quality. The Volumizing Facelift corrects sagging skin, restores volume, and improves skin quality and texture.
If You’re Considering the Volumizing Facelift in Houston
The best candidates for the Volumizing facelift are those who exhibit typical signs of aging: sagging neck skin, lines, wrinkles, and folds. In addition to these problems, candidates exhibit:
- Loss of tissue volume
- Flat or sunken cheeks
- Skin depressions
During a consultation, Dr. Gill can determine if you are the right candidate for this procedure. For any facelift, patients should be healthy non-smokers, who maintain realistic expectations about the outcome.
What to Expect During Surgery
The Volumizing facelift is usually performed with a general anesthetic. The surgery can be completed in 3 to 5 hours. An incision is made at the temples behind the hairline extending in front of your ears and then behind your earlobe. Through this incision, Dr. Gill tightens the skin of the lower face and neck.
To perform fat grafting, Dr. Gill will perform gentle liposuction with a special syringe or cannula. After the fat is prepared, the doctor will restore tissue volume to specific areas of the face. In small amounts, the fat is injected to fill in sunken areas of tissue. When these steps are complete, the doctor will carefully redrape the skin and close the incisions with sutures before covering them with a dressing.
After Your Volumizing Facelift
A Volumizing facelift will have a recovery time that is similar to traditional facelift surgery, lasting up to three weeks. During this time, you will need to get plenty of rest and limit your activity. You may experience swelling and discomfort, which may be managed with medication.
